This works well; it is quiet, is consistent as to grind size and it is relatively quick. The only complaint I have (it is a minor one) is that the orifice where to ground coffee comes out must be cleaned after every use. This is not a deal breaker, just kind of pet peeve. As a comparison: I have had blade grinders and another burr grinder (Cuisinart) and this is far better and seems better made. -The blade grinder has been relegated to grinding spices, for which it is adequate -The Cuisinart burr grinder has been retired, mainly because of a design flaw or defect in the one I have where the ground coffee merges into a cavity next to the chute that delivers the ground coffee and eventually blocks the chute itself. I have had to try and clean it out three times by bending parts and shaking out the trapped coffee. I figure it will certainly break the next time; just not worth the trouble.Read full review

I purchased this to replace my Krups blade grinder when I got a new French press. Pour your beans in the top, select coarse grind and wait a minute. The coarse setting is perfect for the French press. Finer grinds work great in a drip coffee maker. Easy to use, easy to clean. I rinse after use, dry with a paper towel, put the lid on, put back into the machine and everything's set for the next use. Hope this is as durable as my old Krups. It looks and feels well made.

Pro's: The grind is pretty consistent. It is not as noisy as my old grinder. Con's: The switch is a little finicky. I have to tap the top or side of the grinder to get it to start. I'm not sure I like the timer concept. I prefer to just measure the amount of whole beans I want to grind.

The only reason I gave it 4/5, is because it can be a little messy, but works fabulous. I just use my dust-buster hand vac for the quick clean. :-)

This is my second Krups burr grinder. These do a great job on all bean types. The oily beas slow it down a bit, but it will complete the grind. The only thing to look out for is that the ON/OFF buttons do come off and fall inside the machine, like my old one did after several years of hard use. When that happens, just get a small pencil and depress the little white tab inside and you are back in business.
